Matt O'Connell
Head of Operations

As the Head of Operations of East Lothian Shinty Club, I set the overall direction and vision for the club and lead the day-to-day operations, ensuring the club functions seamlessly and aligns with our goals.

My responsibilities span various key areas, starting with developing and maintaining our brand strategy. Working closely with the committee, I establish a compelling brand identity, build our online presence, and foster relationships with sponsors and partners.

Coordinating the design and purchase of our trainingwear and match kit is also under my purview. Collaborating with suppliers and designers, I ensure our apparel reflects our brand identity and meets player needs. I oversee the entire procurement process, from concept to delivery, guaranteeing our players have the appropriate attire to represent the club proudly.

Equipment procurement is a crucial aspect of my role. In collaboration with the Equipment Manager and coaching team, I identify and source the necessary equipment for training sessions, competitions, and fixtures. Maintaining high-quality and well-maintained equipment is vital to create a safe and conducive environment for our players to excel.

Recruitment plays a significant role in my responsibilities. I actively seek talented individuals, whether experienced players or newcomers, to join our club. Building relationships with schools, local organisations, and community programs, I promote the benefits of being part of our Club. Through effective communication and outreach initiatives, I engage potential players and facilitate their seamless integration into our club.

In summary, as the Head of Operations, I oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the club functions smoothly. From developing our brand strategy to coordinating trainingwear and match kit, managing equipment procurement, and driving recruitment, I create an environment that fosters a sense of community, promotes our club's identity and our sport's rich history.
